Fermes Leclair was among the first farms to start using sterile flies across an entire acreage of green onion crops. The project was started up in cooperation with the Prisme consortium and its members. The goal of the insect releases is to reduce use of insecticide as much as possible for control of onion maggots (larvae). To learn more about the steps involved in rearing the flies, see this article (in French) about our “fly factory.”
